Mental Drills for Mental Skills 

I run a series of 12 different tennis workshops that can be provided to teams and individuals alike. 

Do you enjoy playing Tennis but worry about any of the following:

  • Pressure situations?
  • Nervous feelings about not being able to close out a match?
  • Criticising yourself, during or after games?
  • Getting angry with yourself on court?
  • Playing worse in matches than you do in practice?
  • Losing to players you think you should beat? 
  • Becoming frustrated at not getting better despite having coaching?

Then my course of twelve mental skills workshops is for you. Set on a picturesque tennis court near the beautiful Brighton coast my Mental Drills for Mental Skills course will provide you with appropriate and immediately usable strategies for improving the mental approach to your tennis game. The course considers ways that you can: 

  • Mentally prepare for enjoyable matches and practice
  • Cope with pressure situations and learn to enjoy them
  • Deal with nerves you may experience as and when they arise with effective relaxation techniques
  • Improve the way you talk to yourself 
  • Handle the consequences of matches, irrespective of the results
  • Increase your enjoyment of the game by hitting better shots in matches and not just in practice

These practical 3 hour workshops emphasise playing tennis and hitting tennis shots. The mental skills are developed while you are actively involved in tennis drills. Each workshop combines the joy of 3 hours of specific physical tennis drills with up to date scientific research on ways to improve your mental approach to tennis. I am a fully qualified Mental Skills Coach with 11 years of psychological training (including MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology) and over 8 years of applied practical experience helping beginner to elite level tennis players develop their mental approach to the game.  I also compete in the top divisions of the Sussex County League—playing regular singles and doubles matches.

Each workshop costs £35 for three hours including tuition, balls and key learning points.  Max: Eight persons per session.
